WILLIAM JAMES COLMAN, born 30/05/1884, LOWESTOFT, SUFFOLK. JOINED    03/04/1911
REQUIRED TO RESIGN  01/12/1913.MARRIED WITH ONE CHILD ON JOINING5' 11, FAIR COMPLEXION, BROWN HAIR, BLUE EYES, TATTOOS ON CHEST, SCAR RIGHT SIDE OF HEAD & CHIN LAST EMPLOYED BY THE GREAT EASTERN RAILWAY AT LONDON (8 MONTHS) SERVED 8 YEARS IN THE ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY HAD PREVIOUSLY SERVED IN THE GREAT YARMOUTH POLICE BUT HAD NOT ADMITTED SO WHEN HE APPLIED TO JOIN CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH. (REASON HE WAS REQUIRED TO RESIGN)

Pc 9 and Pc 47  are wearing uniforms from about the 1870 - 1880 period. The number 47 came in about 1878 and was used as a starting number for new recruits (officers changed numbers every time they progressed a class in Cambridge Boro for a 20-30 year period).
             
PC56               PC58

Pc 56 and 58 these numbers first commenced in July 1900.. I believe Pc 56 is  JAMES ARTHUR FELL

 joined 23/09/1901.

Pc 58 is more difficult  the following are all Pc 58 between the dates given he looks quite tall so I have put the heights of the officers in as I have them.

Taken from the Peterborough & Huntingdonshire Standard Saturday June 9th  1895

 At the Watch Committee of the Town  Council on Friday the Chief Constable applied to be allowed to engage extra police for the forthcoming visit at H.R.H the Prince of Wales to the  Agricultural Show and he was authorized to engage 15 additional men. On the second day of the show, and four for the other two days of the show, the Agricultural Society paying for the police required by them on the ground. The  question of engaging two mounted police to lead the Royal carriage through the city was discussed and the question adjourned.
